Our history
The history of TL TAXI LYONNAIS
The history of Taxis Lyonnais has been built on family values
for more than 50 years. The great-grandfather, Movsès Altounian, first invested in taxi-equipped
cars in order to obtain licences. His son Georges Altounian followed suit: it was mainly he and
his wife, Huguette Altounian, who carried through the project of creating the call centre.
Determined and motivated, they cleverly obtained a radio line by applying directly to the relevant
ministry, in Paris.
One thing leading to another, they opened a telephone line in
1971, and it is still in service today! The first calls were few and far between, but the winter of
1971 was one of the coldest the city had known: that is when they made their call centre known, by
repairing the drivers' vehicles between two rides! Those were different times…
The business endures, and some of their children are now taking
up the torch. Will they be strong enough to face new technologies and the sector's fierce
competition? We will do everything we can! What is certain is that they are on the front line and
have the strength of character of their elders: they dare, they create, they evolve, they
change... For the good of all!
